Joint security forces from the Damai Cartenz Task Force, the Indonesian National Police, and the Indonesian Army moved quickly to secure the location following the terror by West Papuan separatists.
“There were no casualties in this incident, but we remain vigilant and are taking anticipatory measures to maintain security,” stated the Head of Operation Damai Cartenz, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
According to reports, assailants fired four shots from the direction of the old, unused terminal at Bilorai Airport. Security personnel were already on high alert in the vicinity when the attack occurred.
The joint forces responded with return fire and immediately pursued the attackers towards the Wabu River. However, the two perpetrators, who were armed with handguns, successfully escaped into the dense jungle.
