Prabowo Accelerates Aceh-Papua Connectivity Development

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Menko IPK), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), stated that President Prabowo Subianto’s administration will expedite connectivity development from Aceh to Papua. This initiative aims to achieve the Indonesia Emas 2045 target, set for 20 years from now.
“To achieve economic transformation towards Indonesia Emas 2045, we only have 20 years left. We must build excellent connectivity from Aceh to Papua,” AHY said during the 3-Month Agenda of Prabowo-Gibran at the Defense University (Unhan) on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
AHY emphasized that this connectivity development will involve infrastructure development and management across land, sea, air, and rail.
Furthermore, AHY added, there is still an infrastructure development disparity between Java and Non-Java regions. Therefore, the government must prioritize development commitment.
“There is still a significant gap between Java and Non-Java, between cities and villages, especially for our brothers and sisters in eastern Indonesia, in Papua, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara. All of them need special attention,” he added.
The realization of these commitments is believed to boost the national economy. Connectivity can reduce logistics costs significantly.
“In the future, the mobility of people and goods will improve. It will also reduce logistics costs and transaction expenses from one region to another,” he concluded.
However, this target seems to be hampered by budget limitations. Previously, AHY mentioned budget constraints, particularly in infrastructure ministries and institutions.
“We always face budget limitations because the nation’s priorities are extensive,” said Coordinating Minister AHY at the Ministry of IPK building on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
AHY claimed that the limited budget requires him to ensure that future infrastructure development is more targeted, efficient, and has a direct impact on economic growth and equitable distribution of welfare for the people.
