The National Electricity Company of Indonesia succeeded in electrifying the capital city of Lanny Jaya Regency after the Handover of Operation, Electricity System between National Electricity and the Government of Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province, West Papua, Indonesia.

People in Gurika Village, Olume Village, Kuapur Village, Yilondum Village, Oyi Village, Dura Village, Langgalo Village, Lampung Wadinalome and Panggame Village in Tiom District, Lanny Jaya Regency can enjoy electricity services from the National Electricity Company.

One of the residents of Lanny Jaya, Teti Wenda expressed her happiness over the presence of electricity in her homeland. He explained that the existence of electricity will help a lot of community activities, especially in terms of trading.

“Electricity is a basic need that is urgently needed by the community. I, who am an entrepreneur in the field of decoration services, also find it very difficult to work if there is no electricity,” said Teti Wenda

He further said that he had to come to the place where the generator was and pay 10,000 Rupiah to charge the mobile phone used for work. Not only that, he continued, the presence of electricity can also help traders to store their goods (meat and vegetables) so that they do not rot.

“Of course, we are very grateful to the National Electricity Company for being a breath of fresh air and spurring our spirits. We hope that the service can also be improved,” said Teti Wenda.

The Interim Governor of Papua Pegunungan, Velix Vernando Wanggai, explained that all lines in the operation of the government, schools, offices and health facilities need electricity sources.

It needs to be realized that the government itself cannot run alone to develop this area, therefore the government needs the help of partners such as PLN to help supply electricity. “Let’s build Lanny Jaya together for the welfare and prosperity of the community. Thank you National Electricity Company,” he said.

In line with what was said by the Temporary Regent of Lanny Jaya, Alpius Yigibalom expressed his and the community’s longing for good lighting in Lanny Jaya. After 10 years of the district government budgeting electricity costs, finally now the community is sure to get proper electricity facilities.

“So far, electricity has been tried to be managed by the government itself, but it cannot be maximized so that the lights are still on off,” Alpius said.

His party is also trying to coordinate with the National Electricity Company Wamena Generation Unit3 to find a solution and in the end we can make it happen today. Electricity is officially on in Lanny Jaya Regency.

General Manager of the National Electricity Company Main Unit for the Papua and West Papua Region, Budiono explained that the National Electricity Company is happy because good collaboration between agencies can realize more decent electricity services.

The support from the local government and various other stakeholders makes the National Electricity Company’s work easier to serve the community.

“In electrifying we are not alone. Today it is a tangible manifestation of the synergy between the provincial government, the local government and the National Electricity Company. So far we continue to strive to improve services and we ask for support from stakeholders,” Budiono concluded.

The electricity system of Lanny Jaya Regency in the nine villages is currently supplied directly by the Tiom Diesel Power Plant with a generating capacity of 2 x 720 kW.

Several electricity infrastructures were also built to distribute electricity to 1,853 potential customers such as a medium-voltage network along 7.69 kilometers of circuits and a low-voltage network along 8.2 kilometers of circuits and nine substations with a total capacity of 650 kVa.
