The Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force has identified five members of the West Papua Separatists suspected of being involved in the murder of New Zealand helicopter pilot Glen Malcolm Conning in Alama District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province, West Papua, Indonesia, on Monday, August 5, 2024.

Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation, Police Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, stated that based on the results of the investigation of the scene and examination of witnesses, the West Papua Separatists led by Perek Jelas Kogoya are strongly suspected of being the perpetrators of the hostage-taking and murder of Conning.

The five suspected perpetrators who have been identified are:

1. Perintakola Lokbere alias Malas Gwijangge (20 years old)

2. Jeri Wandikbo (50 years old)

3. Irisim Gwijangge (20 years old)

4. Jaka Gwijangge (15 years old)

5. Analuk Amisim (36 years old)

The five suspected perpetrators are from Geselma Village, Nduga Regency.

Public Relations of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force, Senior Commissioner Bayu Suseno added that his party had completed the investigation of the scene, collection of evidence, and examination of witnesses.

“We have issued a wanted list for the suspected perpetrators and will continue with investigation and law enforcement efforts,” he said Wednesday (August, 14 2024).

In addition to killing the pilot, the KKB is also suspected of having burned an IWN helicopter, MD.500 ER PK belonging to PT. Intan Angkasa Air Service until it was completely damaged.

Meanwhile, the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force has conducted an investigation of the location of the incident for two days, namely on August 6-7, 2024. During the investigation, the team found an empty house at the end of the airport which is suspected to be the residence of West Papua Separatists for the past week. Inside the house were found pictures of weapons, West Papua Separatist flags, and West Papua Separatist documents, and other evidence.
