West Papua Will Realize Clean Energy Investment
The Papua Provincial Government will realize clean energy investment because the natural resource potential in the local area is quite large so this is a strategic step for a sustainable future.
Head of the Papua Province Communication and Information Service, Jeri Agus Yudianto in Jayapura, Sunday, said that in the near future his party would invite various investments in the clean energy sector, such as hydrogen and solar panel power.
“On Wednesday (22/5/2024) we held a forum for the formation of clean energy, which is a joint commitment with stakeholders,” he said.
According to Jeri, this is because Papua’s electricity consumption is still considered very low even though energy trading opportunities are wide open.
“There is still a lack of electricity consumption in Papua because there is not much use in the business and industrial sectors even though there is energy trading,” he said.
He explained that in order to make this happen, cooperation between provincial and district governments, development partners, state-owned companies, provincial-owned companies, private companies and indigenous communities is needed.
“Apart from that, a forum and joint commitment are also needed so that this clean energy investment can be realized, like the energy forum, which for some time began the formation process by meeting in workshops before the formation of the energy forum in Papua,” he said again.
He added that this forum would lead to agreement and cooperation as a community in the energy ecosystem in Papua.
“In this way, this forum will become an important lesson for the government in the new autonomous regions, both in the south, mountains and central areas and even in Papua,” he said.
