West Papua Separatist Member Killed Military Commander Who Was a Close Friend
West Papua Separatist member Anan Nawipa (33) was arrested for killing Military Rayon Commander 1703-4/Aradide, Lettu Oktovianus Sogalrey, who turned out to be his close friend, in Paniai Regency, Central Papua, West Papua, Indonesia. The police revealed the reason Anan Nawipa killed Lettu Oktavianus.
“Anan Nawipa admitted that it was his group that carried out the murder of the Military Rayon Commander 1703-4/Aradide because they greatly hate the members of the Indonesian Army and Police,” said the Head of Operation Peaceful Cartenz 2024, Faizal Ramadhani.
Faizal stated that the perpetrator’s confession came to light after Anan Nawipa underwent an examination at the Timika Post on Sunday (12/5). Faizal did not explain the motive behind the perpetrator’s hatred towards the victim that led to the attack.
However, Faizal revealed that the attack involved six other perpetrators who are still being pursued by the authorities. Meanwhile, Anan Nawipa was said to have joined the West Papua Separatists in the past year.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of Operation Peaceful Cartenz 2024, Bayu Suseno, regretted the perpetrator’s actions. Because, it turned out the victim and the perpetrator knew each other well. “Yes, it is very regrettable, considering Oktovianus Sogalrey was very close to the perpetrator all this time,” said Bayu.
“Anan Nawipa knew the victim Lettu Oktovianus Sogalrey well, as he often received basic necessities from the victim for his family living in Ekadide Village,” he added.
