Epson Nirigi Supplier of Weapons and Ammunition to Egianus Kogoya Arrested
The Cartenz Peace Task Force arrested Epson Nirigi (35), a member of the Armed Criminal Group who is a figure who supplies weapons and ammunition to the Armed Criminal Group led by Egianus Kogoya in the Mimika region, Central Papua Province, West Papua Indonesia.
The arrest of Epson was carried out on Tuesday (20/2/2024) yesterday while attending a vote recapitulation meeting for the 2024 Indonesian election.
“The arrest was made at the Lavela In Hotel, Jalan Kalimutu, Mimika City, Central Papua Province, while the person concerned was attending a vote recapitulation meeting for Jita District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua,” said Cartenz Peace Operations Head, Police Commissioner Faizal Ramadhani in his statement.
According to him, Epson Nirigi is an active member of the Ndugama Kodap III Armed Criminal Group, which is a subordinate of Egianus Kogoya.
He has also been on the Wanted List from the Nduga Regency Police Sector since 2023.
Faizal said that arresting Epson, who lives in Mimika, was quite difficult because he always disguised himself by working as a Speed Boat Operator in the area.
“Currently Epson Nirigi has been detained at the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operations Task Force Command Post, Mimika Region for further investigation,” he said.
Separately, the Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation, Bayu Suseno, said that in the arrest of Epson Nirigi, the authorities also secured various evidence in the form of ammunition and weapons.
“During the arrest, the Task Force succeeded in confiscating a number of pieces of evidence, including 1 waist bag, 116 thousand in cash, 1 Oppo charger, 1 lighter, 2 note books, 1 flash disk, 1 BRI bank ATM card, 1 KTP “, 1 BPJS card, 1 Kuala Papua Indonesia Foundation visitor card, 1 SIM C, passport photo, 1 motorbike STNK, 1 wallet, and 1 postcard,” said Bayu.
The arrest of Epson Nirigi adds to the list of members of armed criminal groups who have been arrested by officers. Previously, Alenus Tabuni was arrested in front of the Ilaga District Health Center, Puncak Regency.
“Our team from the Cartenz Peace Operations task force in the peak area has arrested 1 member of the armed criminal group, namely, Alenus Tabuni alias Kobuter,” said Head of Cartenz Peace Operations, Kombes Faizal Ramadhani in his statement.
Faizal said that at that time, Alenus Tabuni was arrested while joining a group of people in front of the community health center.
Alenus Tabuni alias Kobuter once joined an armed criminal group led by Goliath Tabuni. But now he has joined the armed criminal group led by Numbuk Telenggen in Puncak Regency, Central Papua Province, West Papua Indonesia

The following are a number of criminal records committed by Alenus Tabuni:
1. On February 11 2021, he was involved in burning the basecame belonging to the Unggul Company in Jenggerpaga Village, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency.
2. On April 14 2021, he was involved in the shooting of a motorbike taxi driver on behalf of Udin near the Eromaga village hall which resulted in the victim’s death.
3. On April 24 2021, he beat the head of Gome District, brother Nius Tabuni, in Gome District, Puncak Regency.
4. On May 3 2021, he was involved in the shooting incident of TNI members in Undome village, Gome District, Puncak Regency. The victim survived the incident.
5. On May 9 2021, he was involved in burning down tourism buildings around Aminggaru airport, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency.
6. On May 11 2021, he wanted to set fire to a truck used by Indonesian Army-Police officers around the tourist building location around Aminggaru airport, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, but his intention was not carried out because the truck had moved.
7. On June 3 2021, he was involved in the shooting of Abel Alengpen’s brother which resulted in the victim’s death.
8. Then, on the same date, namely, June 3 2021, they again vandalized and burned residents’ houses and a number of facilities at Aminggaru Ilaga Airport, Puncak Regency, Central Papua Province
9. On August 16 2021, was involved in armed contact with TNI members in Welenggaru Village and Kugibur Village, North Gome District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua Province
10. On August 18 2021, he was involved in armed contact with TNI members in Mundidok village and Tuanggi village, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency. There were no victims in the firefight.
11. And on February 4 2024, he was again involved in a firefight with Indonesian military and police security forces in the Unggul Company area, in Jenggerpaga Village, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency. There were no victims in the firefight.
