Joint security forces from the Indonesian military and police arrested three people suspected of being the perpetrators of the murder of female activist Michelle Kurisi. The perpetrators, namely PM, AW and RK alias RM. The three of them were members of the West Baliem West Papua National Committee and were arrested in three different places.

“On Thursday October 5, 2023, we arrested the alleged perpetrator of Michelle’s murder with the initials PM in Jayawijaya, then the next day we carried out developments and arrested the alleged perpetrator AW again in Jayapura and then RK alias RM in Tolikara,” said Head of Peace Operations Cartenz 2023 Faizal Ramadhani, via written statement.

They are suspected of killing Michelle Kurisi in Koloak Atas District, Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Mountains on August 28 2023. However, continued Faizal, the number of Michele Kurisi’s killers is believed to be more than that. The authorities are currently still pursuing other perpetrators. “The total perpetrators are estimated to be seven people,” said Faizal.

Currently the three perpetrators are being detained at the Papua Regional Police to undergo legal proceedings.

It is known that Michelle Kurisi Doga was killed by West Papuan Separatists on August 28 2023 in Upper Koloak District, Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Mountain Province, West Papua Indonesia. The perpetrators allegedly stabbed and hit him in the head using wood. This action was recorded directly by the perpetrator and distributed via their social media channels.
