Feared by Egianus Kogoya, a former soldier who defected to the West Papua Armed Criminal Group
Egianus Kogoya, Head of the West Papua Armed Criminal Group for the Nduga Regency area, afraid to former Indonesian soldiers who were fired, former soldiers forming a new group within the West Papua Armed Criminal Group.
Head Of The County Police Nduga District Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Rio Alexander Panelewen said the person Egianus feared and avoided was Yotam Bugiangge.
Egianus Kogoya is the leader of the West Papua Armed Criminal Group which is notorious and often commits acts of armed violence in Nduga Regency, Papua Highlands Province of Indonesia.
Then who exactly is Yotam Bugiangge?
Yotam Bugiangge is a retired Army Soldier who ran away from his unit on December 17, 2021.
He previously served in Infantry Battalion 756/MWS in Company C Senggi, Keerom Regency.
Yotam Bugiangge fled with an SS1 V1 firearm without any ammunition. After deserting, Yotam Bugiangge was officially dismissed from the TNI in 2022.
The Army said that Yotam Bugiangge fled to Nduga, which is his hometown.
Yotam Bugiangge had joined Egianus Kogoya and committed a number of crimes.
They collaborated in the murder of Police Brigadier Diego Rumaropen and made off with the victim’s steyr and AK 45 weapons in June 2022.
He and Egianus Kogoya were also involved in the massacre of civilians in Nogolait Village, Kenyam District, Nduga which killed 12 people in July 2022.
Yotam Bugiangge is also suspected of being involved in the shooting that killed two residents in Yahukimo on March 8 2023. The police say that the shooting was carried out by Yotam Bugiangge at the request of Egianus Kogoya.
Parting ways with the Egianus Kogoya Group
Meanwhile, Head of the County Police Nduga District Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Rio Alexander Panelewen said Yotam Bugiangge had parted ways with the Egianus Kogoya group.
Yotam Bugiangge and his group were in the Kenyam District after going to Yahukimo. Meanwhile Egianus Kogoya went to Paro District.
The existence of Yotam Bugiangge is thought to have caused Egianus Kogoya to never come close to the Kenyam District.
