The Lesser bird of paradise (Paradisaea minor) is known as the little yellow bird of paradise. This bird is medium in size with a length of about 32 cm, red-brown in color with a yellow crown and a tawny upper back.

The male bird has an emerald-dark green throat, a pair of long tails and is decorated with yellow wing feathers at the base and white on the outside.

The female bird is smaller than the male bird, has a dark brown head, white chest and is not decorated with decorative feathers. Its range includes the entire forest of northern Papua New Guinea, and the islands near Misool and Yapen.
